SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE.

lirait water. This Day ... 5.12 a.m., G.3G p.m. ARRIVALS. Nil. DEPARTURE. Nil. CUSTOMS ENTRIES. Nil. EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Nightingale, from Melbourne John Penn, from Nelson. VESSELS IN PORT. Schooners —Ada. Ketches —Mary, Constant. Steamer —Beautiful Star. In consequence of the general holiday of rejoicing, no business was transacted; the ships however, displayed their loyalty by showing all the flags they could muster. The steam ship, Great Britain, is again on her way home to England, full of passengers. She sailed in company with the Lady Darling, which arrived here on Sunday. The Argun of the 14th inst. says : —" The detention of the Britain in this port seldom exceeds four weeks, but on the present occasion there lias been such a run upon her passenger accommodation and her space for cargo, that she has filled up quite ready, and might have left a, week ago with case, but for the untoward accident to her shaft. This, however, has been effectually remedied, and the new part fitted to a nicety, and her entire machinery is in more than its usual admirable working order. The trusty and well-tried ship and her able and experienced commander are not a whit less popular than heretofore, and it is therefore little matter for surprise that her saloon berths and tiie entire passenger space between decks have been taken up some time ago. Many of the cabin passengers arc from the neighboring colonies, and numbers of the berths were taken up before her arrival. She Mill clear out with about 1800 bales of wool, 100 tons of bark, and about SO,OOO ounces of gold, and, with her formidable passenger list, she ought to gross a considerable amount. She is in fine trim for the voynge, and if as fortunate as on the previous run home, she will do 'remarkably well,' and add still further to her prestige."
