COMMERCIAL.

Westpobt Times Office, Saturday evening. The amount of revenue collected at the Customs on Saturday, was £27 12s 6d. The total import duty for the week was £671 3s Id. The amount of export duty on gold amounted to £124 6s lOd, on 994 ozs. 15dwts. During the week a slight improvement has taken place in trade, and the rush from this locality to Queensland seems abated. In fact, from the tenor of the news it would be madness for any miners to go there. The general mining news from Addison's, Buller River, and Caledonian Terrace is improving, and the great desideratum now is an improvement in the weather which, during the week, has been both wet and stormy. A great influx of people on Tuesday, in connection with the Fenian procession, enlivened the town, but very little money was spent in Westport in consequence. Two bailiff's sales, and a clearing out sale of Mr Samper's grocery store, were well attended, and fair prices were realised. In flour, although no large business is doing the news from Adelaide lias sent the price up to £27, and higher rates are expected to rule. The Maid of Erin's cargo was discharged during the week in good condition, and stocks of general goods are sorted np by her. In spirits and bottled ales little or no trade is doing. A good demand continues for Nelson bulk ales. Our local brewery is doing a failtrade, but has not succeeded in supplanting the Nelson import?. The town hag l'ltely bet-n supplied with eggs, principally from Victoria, and the stock of poultry is being daily augmented by fresh shipments.
