Two Or three hundred yards along the Buller road, a water-wheel haa recently been erected close alongside the roadway, and being unsecured, it has a frightening effect upon horses passing. A newteam happened to be in the coach that morning, and on approaching the wheel, the leaders shied, and in spite of the driver's whip, fell back on the wheels, and the road being scarcely more than ten feet wide at this point, the coach was only saved from a capsize over the terrace by one of the wheelers bring thrown and breaking the pole. Mr Smith rode out to meet the Buller coach which was brought on to Charleston. "We understand the Warden has given notice to the proprietors of the water-wheel to have it properly secured, or to remove the machinery to another spot, The following is a statement of receipts and expenditure in oonnesion with the late grand ball given by the Oddfellows Society.
