LATEST NEWS FROM THE MARY BOROUGH DIGGINGS.
The population is about 15,000 ; of which only about 500 are getting gold. The weather is frightfully hot. Distress is prevalent, and numbers of new arrivals are prostrated with success. Mr W. 11. Henderson, accountant, of Revell-street, ITokitika. has received a private communication from Queensland in which the writer states that several diggers who had arrived from New Zealand ports had died from sunstroke soon after lauding; some within ■one hour.
