Monday, Feb. 24. (Before Chaa. Broad, Esq., R.M.) Thomas Giles was fined 20s for being drunk and incapable. Crewdson v. Lofty.—Judgment by default for £35, amount of an 1.0. U. Wliitfielcl v. Lofty.—This was a claim for £l6. Mr Johnston, for plaintiff, said as the claim involved some partnership business his client was willing to have the matter settled by arbitration, Defendant however objected to such a course, and in answer to an item in the amount of £l2 for six weeks' services .as newspaper runner to 7th October, he put in a receipt, dated 25th October for £lO, in settlement of all accounts to date. Case adjourned to Wednesday to get rebutting evidence as to the other idem of £4 10s for newspapers. BeJian and Carrie v. S nyer.—This was a claim for £lO for sheepskins delivered to Singer and Knight. Plaintiff stated that he had delivered the skins to Knight, the price being £ls, of which Singer had paid £5, and called Knight, who said that the agreement between himself and Singer Was that he was to collect the skins and Singer was to pay for them. He added, in cross-examination, that there was a sort of partnership between them. The Magistrade said as it was a partnership business the names of both Singer and Knight should have appeared in the summons. Plaintiff nonsuited.

Haines v. Goodman. —Claim £5, for illegal detention of a watch and chain. Defendant pleaded he had a lien over the watch for repairs, but his Worship said that did not entitle him to retain it, he must give it up. Plaintiff to pay 9s.

Hewlett v. Chas. Stewart and Party. — Nonsuited, owing to informality. The following transfers of publicans' licenses was agreed to : John Bridson to Charles Curtis. Samuel Nelson to Thomas Cronin.
