COMMERCIAL.
Westport Times Office, Feb. 22,1868. Gold export duty for the week £1440 5s ftd. Customs revenue for the -week £909 13b. The amount collected on Saturday was £l9 17s. Commercial matters are so thoroughly stagnant that wo have no sales of any magnitude •to report during the week. Oats arc getting scarce, and are only held in any quantity by one or two firms. Kerosene is getting low, a small quantity has however arrived by the Beautiful Star. Bread has been lowered during the week, and the 41b loaf is now iodvertiscd at Is. The stock of cattle and
sheep lies been further augmented by tho arrival of the Beautiful Star and the Wallaby ; 12 horses have also arrived by tho Beautiful Star, this is rather an unusual freight for this port. The retail price of meat still keep at Is, but Mr Falla having been unable to quit his sheep to the trade has been selling them retail at Gd per lb. The stock of potatoes is good, and a further import of 110 bags is reported by the Beautiful Star. In other articles there is little or no alteration. Flour still maintains the late advance in price.
