The Nelson, which arrived in port yesterday afternoon, left the Buller at 11 in the morning of the 21st inst. and arrived at Nelson on the 2Cth. Telegrams having come across, stating that the Panama Mail had arrived in Wellington and there mas no steamer in readiness to bring it south, the Nelson was dispatched at 8 in the morning to of the 27th to Wellington, where she arrived at 6 a.m. on the 28th. She leiS. Wellington the same night and reached Nelson at 10 a.m. on the 29th, having had calm seas and pleasant weather throughout the trip. She left Nelson at 4in the afternoon of the Ist February, and cast anchor opposite the Coal Reserve at 1 a.m. yesterday. The Kennedy came in from the South very soon after the Nelson and moored alongside her. She left Westport at noon on Thursday last, was at Fox's at 3 in the afternoon, "where she discharged five tons of cargo and received ten passengers ; left at 9 p.m. and arrived at Greymouth at 2 a.m, on Friday, where she disembarked ten passengers and five tons of cargo. Sailed at 1 p.m. and arrived at Hokitika at 3.30 p.m. same day with ten tons of cargo and fifteen passengers. Left Hokitika on Saturday at 2 p.m., arrived at Greymouth at 4.30, took in 40 tons of coal and left at 5.30 on Sunday morning for Westport, where she arrived at 2 p.m. yesterday. She brings 25 passengers. The little cutter Volunteer sailed out yesterday afternoon for the Manukau, whence she will return with a similar cargo to her last.

The Mary came in yesterday with a cargo of Mokihinui coals. The Southland went out of the river on Saturday night with the hope of getting some of the several craft in the offing to tow in. As there was a fine leading hreeze however the vessels all trusted to their canvas, and the "Southland came back without getting a job. The cargo of the Nightingale is now being discharged by the aid of a most elaborate staging erected between her and the beach, but the process of unloading is a most toilsome one, and clearly shows the loss the commerce of the port has experienced by the destruction of the wharf.

The Canterbury arrived yesterday from Wanganui, with a cargo of potatoes and timber from the North Island, and is now lying at Beauchamp's wharf for discharge.
