(To the Editor of the Wextport Times and Charleston Argus.) Sir, —Hearing of a small rush near the Sandhills, and being out there professionally, I made it my ludncss to ascertain its truth. I visited the ground, and found a party of four preparing to work some ground close to the beach in the fork of two small creeks. Not more thin from £3 to iA per week per man will, I think, be made, nor is there room for any more, the ground being very limited. I understand that a pretty fair prospect has also been obtained from the cement in the Three Mile Bush jus' above those parties, where I have no doubt some enteprising miner will some day erect machinery, as water is easily obtainable j but I would strongly deprecate any thing like a rush to the place until more is known of it. An oil spring, about which I am not at liberty to say much at present, lias also been discovered some miles from this place. I showed the man who pointed it out to me, a specimen of petroleum shale I happened to have with me, and recommended him to bore in an inexpensive manner, which I instructed him in. If not proved valuable as a light, it may be highly so as a lucubrator for the numerous machines now erected in Charleston. I shall communicate to you more fully on this subject very shortly. I am, &c., Eichd. Hall Coe, C.E. and Surveyor.
