RESIDENT MAGISTATE'S COURT.

Saturday, January IS. (Before T. A. S. Kynncrsley, Esq.) STEALING FOWLS. John Cwrrcm was charged with vagrancy, and with having stolen a fowl, the property of John Connor, -who stated that he missed the fowl soon after prisoner left his tent, where he had come to ask him to have a drink. A pair of blankets was also said to have been lost by Dougal Kerr a day or two previously, and to have been stolen by prisoner, or some very like him. He was also proved to have offered a pair of blankets for sale, although be had no swag with him when he came from Charleston. After hearing some other evidence to the same time, his Worship said that he considered prisoner to be a person who had no lawful means of support, and sentenced him to three months' imprisonment, with hard labor.
