SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE.

POET OF WESTPOBT. in on WATER. 'This Day 1.40 a. m ?/>p.m. EXPECTED AUTII V AI,S. Nightingale, barque, from Melbourne. Loonidas, schooner, from Melbourne. Kennedy, s.s., from flokitika. VESSELS Itf POUT. Schooner —Eambler. Ketohos—Brother and Constant, Mary, Bi'mblcr. Steamers —Southland, Waipara, Murri. y The Beautiful Star has been hovering about the roadstead since she first arrived, but lias not yet attempted to enter, the strong current running out of the river apparently deterring her. The steamship Kennedy left Hokitika on Sunday at 10 a.m., and arrived at the Grey at 1 p.m. Owing to the state of the river, she was not able to leave the Grey before 130 p.m on Tuesday. Arrived at Fox's tt 5 p,ni., with 20 passengers and five tons of cargo. Left at 7 p.m., and arrived at the Buller at 10 p.m. same night, with 20 passengers and a general cargo. The Otago, which was expected to call here, appears to have passed without calling. She passed the Grey at 5 p.m on Sunday, also without calling, being probably in haste to save her time for the mail at Wellington. The river rose yesterday morning and evening to a point almost as high as during the last great flood, but without doing any appreciable mischief, simply because there was very little in the way of artificial structures left to injure or destroy. Should the fresh have gone clown sufficiently the Wallaby would leave by last night's tide, but the Murray remains in the Lagoon. The saw-mill, which has so long dared the incursion of the flood, has at length yielded to the pressure of circumstances and the tiver. The engine has been moved out of the way, and at the time wc write, the outer supports of the shed overhang the stream in a most precarious condition.
