The Arahuri went out of port yesterday, bound to Nelson en route for Wanganui, whence she will return with another cargo of cattle and sheep. The Waipara came in from Mokihinui early yesterday morning. She has had a very favorable trip, and reports that the channel is now in flrstrate order, running almost straight out to sea. The Sarah, schooner, was entered at the Customhouse to leave to-night for Newcastle, but owing to the loss of her jib-boom from having come into contact with the Waipara, her departure is delayed till Saturday. This collision will form the subject of an inquirj before the magistrate this morning. By a telegram to Hokitika we learn that the Beautiful Star was to leave Dunedirt on the 30th ult. She may, therefore, be daily expected to reach this port. We are extremely giad to learn that Capt. Kii-kpatriek has received orders from the 'owners in Melbourne to keep the Southland here for some time to come, for the use of the port as tender and tug. Consignees and shippers would be subjected to°the most f"™° moonTomonoo if the river were left, as it appeared likely a short time since, without a steamer to do this useful kind of work. She will, this morning, tow out the schooner Lucy and Adelaide, which is now ready for sea, and will proceed at once on her voyage.
