LITTLE WANGANUI
Is situated about fifteen miles from Mokihinui on the north side of the Mokihinui. The road is very rougb, and is only passable for men on foot. A few parties are prospecting on the different tracks, which are very small, and also a good number now are prospecting on the terraces. At Little Wancanui there are about sixteen
parties at work, the most of them have been at work for twelve months or more, and are undoubtedly getting sufficient gold in quantities to pay. them, but our informant states that he does not think that any of them are getting more than good tucker, as they .have to bring in the water from a
lagoon at the back, and the lagoon being situated so low that they are not able to bring the water on to the back for sluicing purposes, only occasionally or after rains. At the present time there is no store at Little "Wanganui, the stores being all brought from the Karamea, a distance of 10 miles. Being a good beach the stores are all packed by horses.
