The New Teak. —The neAv year of 1868 has been ushered in by rain and stormy weather. From an early hour of the morning till late in the evening it has been one continuous downpour of rain, thereby causing heavy freshes in the Totara, Buller, and Nokowa Bivers, and putting almost a stop to any communication with Charleston or Mokihinui, and doing away with any attempt at sports. The swollen state of the river, combined with the rapid current and numerous logs floating down, has tried the strenth of several of our wharfs and jetties, but we are happy to state that nothing serious has occurred.
