MEETING OF CREDITORS.
ESTATE OP G. McCANDLISH,
A meeting iu the above estate was held this morning before Mr W. B. Chennells, D.0.A,, one creditor (Mr J. B. Keith) was present. Mr Pownall appearing for Mr McCandlish. Tho following statement was put in by the bankruptl went into the Whakataki Hotel on tho 19th December, 1894. I put £325 of my own and my wife's money into furniture, stock, and improvements. I attribute my getting into debt to having to wait six months for a license and having to put on many additional improvements to obtain a license, After obtaining a license, before I had time recover myself my creditors began to press aud I was forced to sell out at a loss. The pressure of my creditors increased and they declined my offer of 8s in the pouud, at least some declined. Consequently I filed. In reply to the D.O.A. bankrupt said he had no bank account at present. Did not pay all his money into tho bank. Usually paid the cash away. Had no record of money received or paid, but thought he could make it up from papeis in his possession. The £2OO to Mrs MoCaudlisli in tlio creditors' list was money lent him, and was part of the £325 which he put in the business, His wife was getting money from home. She had also a brake, horse and harness. She hud had them about six months. Anything that was done by his wife's brake and horso for his business was paid for by him. She bought the brake from Mr Saxton. Mr Vennoll effected the purchase for her. His wife would waive her claim if the creditors would allow £lO for furniture. The D.O.A, said he should advise the creditors to resist the claim. Bankrupt continuing said his wife had two dogs, He sold five dogs to his wife; three had since died, the remaining two'would be worth £lO. He sold out his interest in his business to Mr O'Neill for £650. He got £4OO cash which he had since paid to various creditors, excepting a balance which was handed to his solicitor, wherewith to make the offer of 8s in tho £. He would consider whether ho could repeat the offer of 8s in £, The meeting at this stage adjourned,
