Having run out of water, he began to sink a well in his garden, and before going far, ran foul of a reef. Tho first blow of the pick broke off a piece of immensely rich stone containing about Moz of gold, and two dishes of stuff taken from the leader is estimated to contain 'lOoz. He contented himself without seatcliing further for water, and went and sold half the interest in the well.
