It is gratifying to notice that the Borough Council intends to givo effect to Mr Dorrell's simple plan for protecting Bentley-street fi-ora being washed away. As far as it goes the proposal appears to be inexpensive and likely to answer the purpose for which it is designed. What wo would have liked to have seen would lmve been a much more extensive project. If tlio Borough Council had acquired all the frontages to the river from the railway station to the bridgo spanning the main road, laid off a quay about a mile in length, and then let all the land touching it on building leases for ninety-nine years, it would make a spund and remunerative financial investment, and cause llasterton to become one of the most picturesque towns in the whole of Jfew Zealand. What we want in this town js some public man with a head to plan out a project like this and the courage to carry it out, Such a project as the ono we have indicated could be made, if properly carried out, to produce revonue for the Borough.
