THE PREMIER'S REPLY.
. Christciiiikch, Friday, The Mayor this morning received the following reply from the Pretnior to the communications regarding the unemployed;-

I am very mueh pained indeed to hear that some of the mon are said to be starving. Surely in your official position, and with the precedent established in respect to relief works, the local authorities of Christchurch, if the statement is correct, will not permit this reproach to wist for a day. I hayo forwarded your telegram to the Minister of Labour, and have asked him to compupipate with tbe labour agent at Christchurch. I still adhere to the ppnrse ivliich 1 suggested to the deputation at Christchurch at the beginning of November.— fy J, jSpppos."
Spmeofthe men who waited on (be Mayop afternoon apoko strongly regarding the Christphurch jnembers, whom they said had promised to sign a letter to the Proraier, hlit had pot found time to fulfil that promise.
