Alderman Ives is the Mayor-elect j of Sydney, During the course of * ' his speech after the election, the retiring Mayor, Mr S, E. Loes, announced that it was the intention of tho Queen to confer the title of Lord Mayor upon tho Mayor of Sydney, daring tho coming year, so that Mr '* Ives would be the first to bear the title.
