News lias been received from Abyssinia- that on Sunday 20,000 Shoas surprised live companies of Italian troops, under Major Toselli, at Ambazali. Tho latter offered a desporate resistance, and held their position. Received November 11,1.10 tun.

Major Tosolli's loss is estimated at 900 killed, chiefly natives, who wero serving under Italian officers.

The engagement with the Shoas extended over eight hours. Three officers who were leading a portion of the defeated forces effected their escape, from the Shoas, but the store of ammunition was lost.

Later information says that (50 Italian oilicers were engaged, and the lowest estimato of the loss among them, is 12, The mountain battery was lost,

Rome, December 10.

Three thousand Shoas were killed in tho engagement, including two of tho leading chiefs, Tho Shoas first overwhelmed the station wings and then tho centre. The Italian Government will send 10,000 troops to reinforce.
