THE PERRY-STREET WIDENING DISPUTE.
As a result of the recent enquiry, with regard to the proposals to widon Perry-street, fully reported by us some time ago, Mr Barron, Undor Sec. for Lands, writes to the Mayor of Masterton, informing him that the Governor will bo advised to eonsonfcto tho application of the Masterton Borough Council; to take the land necessary for 'widening i Perry-street, on condition that-the Council will imdertako' to' include in'tlie j)ro"p)amJitionto ; tal{o the )aiid necessary for widening, that portion of Perry-Btreet known as Timothystreet, and also that the Council will agree not to interfere with the fences of Dr. Beard and the Messrs Wilsone until after tho next plantingseason, in order that they may, if they so desire, gtowing'til tlib' 'jioriiion "required for the road, tlmt'tbey may wish to saVo'. line pieces' to be taken for widening Tinjotliy-street must be a strip of'at'loast a quarter ql 'aipije on Mr Wrigley's boundaiy, and at least 1Q feet wide on the' qpposite sidqi belonging to tiio Town Ijandg Trust; but the Minister thinks that the Corporation should take a quarter of a chain,
