Received December 8,6.30 p.m. Constantinople, December 7. The Sultan is much irritated at Said Pasha's refusal of tho Viziership unless Izzet Bey, ono of tho most favoured advisors of the Sultan, is dismissed, .He accuses Said Pasha of aiding the Moslem Reformers. Said Pasha and his eldest son, { evading spies, made their escape, and' reached tho British Embassy, where they pleaded for help as their liberty and lives were in peril, The Sultan sent several Ministers to the Embassy to negotiate for tho surrender of Said Pasha, but Sir Philip Currio declined the request, and declared that the refugees would remain his guests as long as thoy chose. His action has caused atremendous sensation. Spies surround the Embassy, and British bluejackets are within! Said Pasha hitherto was British, and very popular with tin Moslems. Russia is arranging for tho transfer of 40 of her torpedo boats to the Black Sea, Ecceived December 9, 10.50 g.m. Constantinople, Decombor 8, . The Turks charge the Armenians with outrages in Anatolia, and also i with poisoning tho wells, i Turkish troops' surrounded the | British gunboat in tho harbour, fearing that Said Pasha would come aboard her. Sir P. Currie, however, 1 protested, and they were withdrawn.
