Press Association-Electric Telegraph—Copyright THE DEAN CONSPIEAOY CASE. Received December 5,10 p.m. Sydney, December 5. In the conspiracy cases to-day counsel for tiiu defence objected to the admission of ovidence oxplana- , toiy of the Attorney-General's action JfL with reference to Gail's bigamy case; T' Counsel for the Crown urged that an attack had been made on the Attorney-Gonoral insinuating corruption ; that this had been done from a spirit of animus, and that an explanation should bo allowed in common justice. He could explain everything. Mr Justice Cohen admitted that jfc was only fair that an explanation should be made, hut at present ho would not admit tho evidonco.
A long argument ensued on the question of admitting Parliamentary speeches as evidence.
Counsel for tho dofence objected on the ground that, tho speeches had been delivered under cover of Parliamentary privilege; while tho counsel for the Crown contended that no such privilege existed in cases like the present, and that it only covered such matters as slander and libel.
His Honour said tho point was very important, and wliilu he thought the speeches of Crick and were admissable, lie would tako noKflßr of and consider the objection raised by the defence.
