From Our Own Correspondent. Ti: Nut, Friday. Tc Nui, like most other places, has been having its share of wet weather, consequently tlio rivers have been in high flood, On Friday afternoon last, we had the heaviest shower that has ever been known in Te Nui. In a few minutes all the drains wore overflowing; in fact the water did not wait to get into the ditches, but streamed down the centre of the main street. One party inquired of a shopman, if lie had any boats for sale, as he thought lie might sail down one of tho drains, if he could only get a boat, On Monday, Daysh's coach as usual went to Whakataki, but 011 returning to Te Nui the following morning, the driver found 110 could not ford the Te Nui River, which was in high llood. The mail had to be taken to Whakataki 011 horseback, as the river was not safe for a vehicle. However, about seven o'clock the next morning, Daysh's coach managed tp get qver, and proceeded on its way to Masterton, Once more, is soen tho necessity of having a bridge over this river,
No doubt the rain of the last week or so would lead one to believe it was winter it must be so with somo of tho East Coast people, as we hear of a football match at Whakataki last Saturday, when Mataikuna station ])eat Cjastlepoint by' some great pmberof 'points. Not to be daunted 1 tho Oastlepointers are determined to have revenge to-morrow, when they agaiu meet.
I have not heard of a cricket club being formed here yet, hut it is to he hoped that those interested in tho game will arrange a meeting and decide if they can get enough to form a club.
The new police station will ho finished in the course of a day'of two.
