Becckcd Dtetmke 2, U.iO a.m. Melbourne, December 2, Arrangements have been completed with the Gulf Lino of steamers for tlio direct monthly carriage of frozen prortuco to Manchester m the Ship Canal, Liverpool and Glasgow. The contract does not como into operation till next Iky, but if sufficient freight offers,' it is probable ono or two steamers will be despatched before then. The rates are:—moat and butter, seven-eights of a penny per lb; cheese, fifteeii-seventeeths of a penny; rabbits and poultry, seventy-live shillings a ton; fruit, four shillings per case.
