A SHIPWRECKED CREW.
_ Sydney, November 28. The ship Aristides has arrived from London, bringing the captain and thirteen of the crew and two passengers of tho Frenoh barque Terre Nouvo. The Aristides encountered a severe gale near the Island of St. Paul, and shortly afterwards sighted the barque flying signals of distress, and that she was in a sinking condition, A boat was lowered to render assistance, but in the face of the mountainous sea which was running the work of rescue was attended by the utmost difficulty, Yet the crew of the Aristides managed to get the whole of the shipwrecked crow and passengers off the derelict with difficulty, The Terre Neuve had been out 100 days from Hamburg, and had terrible weather throughout, She had been beating about for several days dismasted and disabled.
Tho vessel was continuously swopt by waves, nnd nil tho boats woro smashed.
There were 10ft of water in the bold, and consequently tho crew were unable to get below to obtain food, and woro almost starved.
The crew lost everything. The vessel had a general carga.
