The weather here for tho last three days has been very showery, flooding tho rivors and creeks, Mails had to be carried across on horseback to Whakataki and Castlepoint. Shearing has been stopped at all station in consequence of the weather. It is still showery, and the approaches to the bridges at the Black Swamp and Dickens Manawa, were ivashedaway. The rabbit question has again jropped up in the district. Woodlurst, the property of Mr Bellis, ias been taken over by the Stock )epartment, and men placed on it 0 destroy tho rabbits. The owner his morning, in good old Irish ashioh, warned them off, traps and 11, or elsecondign punishment wonld le inflictod. They are now in a tate of statu qm, as they had to aiae the siege pending further rders from headquarters. The Te Nui bridge still stands as living memento of past grandeur,
The inquest on the burning of the lea homestead has been postponed until to-morrow, by order of the Coroner.
