THE SALE TRAGEDY

The Inspector of the Commercial Bank states that when ho examinod the books of the Sale branch in September last, ho spoke to Short about Ms not being so attentive to business as he had previously, or as his position required. The matter was reported to the head office, which drew Short's attention to the complaint subsequently, but he still failed to comply with the requirements of bis position as manager of the Bank,
Tho Inspector was on tho point of, again visiting the Bank when the tragedy occurred; _ Short might have been troubled in his mind over these proceedings, but certainly the report made or the information asked for was not of such a nature as to cause the committal of the tragedy, The Bank books are now being examinod,
