A BANK MANAGER. SHO(M; HIMSELF, By Telegraph—Press Association, Oajiaru, Friday. E. J. Bowling, Manager of the Bank of New Zealand, shot himself through the head this morning. He has been suffering from internal complaints for somo time. He was an old and highly respected citizen, and has been manj years in the Bank's service. In tho meantime be would ascertain from ' the Union Company whether punishment for negligence would mean loss of employment as it often ■ happened that the effect of suspension of certificate was far moro severe on a man than was warranted by tho slight error of judgment ho , had committed. The question of costs was also deferred.
