Fi'ovi Our Own Correspondent. Greytowx, Wednesday, The body of Mr John Hall, senr., who died at the Wellington Old Men's Home, last Wednesday, was brought up from Wellington, by rail last Friday, and interred in the Greytown Cemetery. The deceased was one of the earliest Colonists and one of the oldest 'residents of this town. In the early days he founded the first Wesleyan Sunday School in Greytown, and conducted a Native school at Papawfti. He was highly respected by 1 all who knew him. Unfortunately | lie met with reverses in life, which i compelled him to enter the above institution rather than be a burden j to his own family. For years past he suffered from deafness and partial blindness, The lato Mr-Hall wrote ! a pamphlet on reminiscences of the early days and sought by this means j to earn sufficient to keep him. The profits of tho sale of his pamphlets f only amounted to a very little, compelling him. to seek the aid of r the above named institution, He $ leaves a son and daughter (both of J whom are married and reside here), and a largo number of grand-children 1 and great-grand-childron. In his time lio was a very useful man in this ' ilistrict, He was considerably over ? SO years of age. J
