TAUERU NEWS.

From Our Own Correspondent. Taueru, Saturday, The fourth anniversary of the opening of the Public Hull was celebrated on Friday night by a grand concortand dance. There was a very large and enthusiastic audience, all items being encored, thus lengthennig the programme out somewhat unduly, and it was eleven o'clock before the dancing commenced, but .amends were made for this by keeping it up till ' the small hours.' Reihana iitore (violin) and Miss ; Lett (piano) played solos in admir- 1 able style, and the young lady secured the rather rare honor—an encore for a piano solo at a country concert. The violin solo was also encored. Mr It. P. Johnston gave two songs in £ his well-known style, and it goes 1 without saying that he delighted the " audience. Messrs Gwilliain and " Rces also sang, and Messrs Manning £ and Cotchin performed a ludicrous ' farce to the delight of the young folk. The Taueru orchestra played two overtures, and full accompani- ' ment to Mr Johnson's song. The 8 concert closed with "The Blind C Beggars," performed by Messrs I Brown and Hees, and servod to send 2 the audience homo in good humour. 2
