R, MoFarlane; clerk oi scales, C, Kemble; clerk ot course, Herbert Welch i secretary, W. McKenzio. The attendance at this meeting yesterday demonstrated the fact that it is one of the most popular raco gatherings in this district. Despite the threatening rain and half a galo of wind which was blowing all day, a large concourso of people assembled to witness the first mce meoting ajL the season in tho Wairarapa. Although it rained heavily during i the night and early morning, tho course was in exceptionally good condition. It was presumed that the raiu would have made the course dangerous for tho jumping events, but happily this was not the case. The racing on tho wholo was very good and a fair amount of speculation was indulged in. All tho ar-. rangements were first-class. ThiMf verifies the fact that tho (Mr W, McKenzie) is the right man in the right place, and it is largely owing to his indefatigable attention to the interests of the Club, the meetings turn out the success they undoubtedly are. A starting machine was in use, but it was not altogether a complete success, for owing to the scare which Sir Agnes got he was completely put out of tho race. The large number of ladies presont tended much to enliven the meeting. No accident occurred beyond the frequent blowing on to the course of several and various bats from the top of the Grandstand. The Greytown Brass Band was iu attondanco and played a really good programme of music in a most effi- , cientand pleasing style. The results of the races are as follow:
