Sydxev, November 7, At the conspiracy trial, the Bench held that a prima facie case had been established, and all the live accused —Crick, Meagher, Dean, Green and Mrs Reynolds-were committed for trial. Crick, in his statement, said that lie knew nothing of the true fads until they were set out in Meagher's declaration. Up to the time of the speech delivered by Sir Julian Salomons in the Lcgislstivc Council, ho believed Dean to be innocent. Nothing had occurred to make him doubt the truth of what Meagher had told him. Several witnesses gavo evidence that before fcbo Dean case, and while the case was proceeding, strained relations oxisted between Crick and Meagher; that Crick was constantly complaining that Meagher took too much upon himself, and ucted without consulting his partner; and that a dissolution of partnership was ponding. Witnesses also deposed that Circk was under the influence of drink when ho delivered bis speech in the Legislative Assembly against Sir Julian Salomons. Meagher mado a statement, in which he said ho had dono many things ho regretted, but nothing of which bo was ashamed. He would conduct his own case in the higher Court. The other accused reserved their defence.
