OPAKI AND KOPUARANGA NEWS.
From Our Own Con'espondcnL
The past week has been the best we liavo had this spring (forgrassand crops at anyrate), the very warm showery woather has made quite a , difference in the looks of the country • it was wanted. On Friday a teiuble rain fell with heavy thunder, I expect lots of people returning from the Carterton Show know all about ifc to their sorrow!
I am glad to say that the Kopuaranga Dairy Factory's milk supply is increasing, and the manager informs me that he expects others to roll up shortly. I was present at the testing on Saturday and a very interesting process it is. It seems to me that a factory manager will have to be a chemist as well as an expert in the management of a dairy before long. Mr Higgs seems to be doing his level best to keep up with the timesanyhow. Some of the I tests are very good, one especially, so showing that there are some really good cows in the district. Trout are not so plentiful in the nyers up this way as they were last year, at least I have not heard of any big hauls. There is too much water in the rivers for poaching; perhaps that is the reason!
