[TO IHE &DITOR.] Sir,--!'' wftl > with surprise I read your leader yesterday in re the want of a swimming batli in Jlastei'ton. l You could not have been aware that there is a very good swimming bath at Thompson's cordial factory, in Queen-street. It is about 40ft. x 80ft, and has a depth of from two or throe feet to oyer six fee.t and is supplied with good clean pure spring water; is enclosed by a good high close-boarded fence, and has coveredin dressing places, Many persons, besides myself, have used this bath .during the last three summers. But the faut is that as Ion;; as persons can bathe t» the Waipoua, thoy will not pay ovon tho BinalJ. subscription of five shillings a year for the ,u?e of Thompson's bath, and 'should tho Borough Council construct public batty, they would not answer for tho same reason, yours, etc.,' 6. S. Wkmvss Dhhvmpm;, [We were aware that the swimming bath referred to was open last season but we have not heard that jf was available this, Municipalities afio not expected to make public bariispy.r-Eu.W.D.T.]
