NEW AUSTRALIA.
rSydney, November 3. A lettor dated July Gtli lias been received from New Australia, in which a settler who recently with others loft Sydney gives ut hopoful account of affairs there. Ho says ho is highly pleased with the country, and that the settlement is in a prosperous condition. Cattlo and crops of all sorts—except wheat, which so far has failed owing to iiiMperience-aro doing splendidly. A spirit of unanimity and self-help now pervades the Colony. A proposal to alter the existing constitution was lately badly defeated on beingputtothoballol. If the motion had been carried,the settlement won Id have been placed on the same conditions as it> had just escaped from,and this would have destroyed the liberty of the settlers, A large numberof English families are preparing to join, and altogether the new Anstialian colony is advancing by leaps and bounds, in spite of the opposition engendered by ignorance and prejudice, assisted by mis-statements and exaggerated reports. Tho writer of the letter, concluding, states that he would not exchange his membership for the best situation in Australia.
