MASTERTON PARK TRUST.
QUARTERLY MEETING. . The usual quarterly meeting of tho Masterton Park' Trustees was held yesterday aftornoon. PresentMessrs J, 0, Boddington (in tho / F. G, Moore, E, Feist, A. W, and A. R. Bunny. MINUTES. The minutes of tho last meeting wore read and confirmed. treasurer's REPORT. The Treasurer reported a net debit balance at date of £29 7s. FIRE BUIGADE. 'j. The Masterton Municipal Firo Brigade wrote asking pci mission to. use tho Park Oval on December 26th. Permission was granted on the usual terms, TUG 08AXDSTAND. Tlio Secretary reported that a total of nine shillings lind been collected at tho Grandstand, aud the I Trustees had received half the ■unoimt. Mr Mooro said it had been anticipated thntthostnnd would bo largely used during tho winter, but unusually fino weather had prevailed, and in consequence thestmid was little used. The Secretary saidn, further sum of £l6 5s 7d was duo to Mr M. Wil- * for seats and £l6 to the arcliiWsCt. The footballors had stated Ihat they found a difficulty in collecting at the stand, aud in a number of instances people had rushod the Stand. Tho Chairman said if this wero so tho Trustees would havo to put men on to look after tho Stand. Considerable discussion ensued as to the control of the Grandstand. Mr Feist said they should have some means of preventing all and sundry going on the stand when they liked. Mr Jloore said it was quite evident if tho thing was to bo made to » pay for itself, they would have to do something different than iu the past. The Chairman moved that Messrs F. G. Moore, C. E. Brenmer and Bunny be a sub-committee to control the Grandstand. Mr Moore said he would willingly act providing the Committee had a T freo hand to act. > The Chairman said this would ba understood.-—Tlio motion was then carried, jgA request from certain cricketers "MPtio nllowed to use the Oval and tlio rooms under tho stand was roferrod to the sub-committee.
GRAZIXB, The Secretary asked whether the Park would bo shut up this year for hay, or whether it could be grazed. Mr Bunny thought it a mistake to use tho Park for grazing. Horses sometimes did considerable damage. Mr Moore said if the feed was not kept down, there was always tho ( danger of fire. One blaze would do moro harm than fifty horses. The Chairman agreed with Mr Moore. After tho hay was cut, it was as well to take grazing. Mr Renall expressed the samo opinion. Where the trees bad got well up, there was not much danger v from grazing, Mr Mooro moved that in tho
opinion of Trustees, tbe Park should be grazed, and that tbe letting should ' be left iu the bauds of the Custodian, i jflgMi' Foist seconded, and the motion lafccamed, '™twas also resolved to nnthoi ise , the Custodian to impound all horses or cattle found trespassing in the Park. MEETING. Mr Feist moved that in futuro the Trust meet ou the third Thursday in the first month of each quarter, at 4 p.m. Tho motion was carried. . i ACCOUNTS, An account from J. 0. Ingram, of 13s 9d, was passed for payment, and also £l6 os 7d to M. Williams for seats for the Grandstand, A DONATION'. Mr Moore said Mr Forde, their < architect, had authorised an extra expenditure of £l, to enable tbe floor of the new Grandstand to be all heart of totara, and bad handed him (Mr Mooro) £1 as a donation to covor this extra outlay. Mr Forde's donation was suitably acknowledged. ( NEW TRUSTER,
'/The Chairman said that after con. Wing ono or two of the Trustees, it was thought that it would be advisable to have a representative of the athletic bodies on the Trust, and he would therefore move that Mr A. E. D'Arcy be nominated to fill tho facanoy caused by tho retiiement of Jlr J, Payton, Mr Bunny seconded the motion which was carried.
