Dean asked to be allowed to speak to Mr Levien, solicitor, and told him lie wished to withdraw nil acknowledgment of his guilt, and asked Mr Levien to defoud him.

After interviewing tho prisoner, Mr Garrick stated that ho had comwr' to the conclusion that owing to the worry and oxcitoment Dean was in ' such an extraordinary stato of mind lately that it was his duty to withdraw tlio plea of guilty to the charge of perjury.
