CORRESPONDENCE.

PERRY-STREET PROJECTION. [to the editor.] Sib,-I was sorry to see a paragraph in your issue of the 9th, stating that Mr G. W. Woodroofe had boon paid the purchase money for t.lio portion of his land required for the widoning of Perry-street. I would rather that this matter had been passed over in sileitco. It will bo a great snrpriss to Mr Woodroofo's many friends, to hoar that he Ims consented to take money for (in improvement that adds so much to the value of bis property. Knowing, as doubtless most of them do, the great interest that Mr Woodroofe has always taken in (he widening of the streets and the improvements in the town, and the sacrifices tlint he has made of time and money, with this object in view. The bare statement contained in the paragraph, is not sufficient, and custs aslnr on the intelligence of Mr Woodroofe. In justico and kindness to our friend, his motive for taking the monoy, should have been stated, viz:— "That he hud made ft vow that the Borough of Mastcrton should never possoss the frontage to his land in Perry-street, without- payment." He was content- to sacrifice his own interests and to inllict injury on himself, in order to give a lesson to the Councillors, intd lo show them that- they could not interfere with his plans for (he improvement of the town and his property, with impunity.—'Yours, &c„ William H. Ueetiuji. MnsfcL'ton, October 10th, 1895.
