THE MASTERTON MAYORALTY
MR, HERON TO STAND AGAIN. At last night's meeting of the Masterton Rorough Council, Cr Chamberlain asked if His Worship the Mayor (Mr Geo. Heron) had made up his mind to stand for (be ollice again. Mr Heron in reply said he bad not yet fully made up bis mind. Ho was not anxious to again occupy the chair, but if was for public good, be would be prepared to offer bis services for another year. He did not wish, however, to stand in the way of a capable man, but up to the present he had heard of no likely or suitable candidate. Cr Feist said he would like Mr Heron to give an assurance that he would again conic forward. Personally he would be pleased to see Mr Heron stand again. He knew of no Councillor, at anyrate, who aspired to the ollice, and thought the general fueling in the Council was in favor of the Mayor again standing for election.
Ci Hessoy said it seemed to bo the general wish that His Worship should come forward. Mr Heron said.that he would let his intentions he known by noon tomorrow (Wednesday). This morning, Mr Heron informs ns that he will bo a candidate.
