THE DEAN SENSATION.

Received' Oclvler 7,10.50 p.m. Sydney, October 7. Owing to the holiday, no further development in the Dean caso is reported. The preliminary hearing of the charge against Meagher, Crick, anil Doan, begins on Thursday. '

PREPARING THE CASE. MR CRICK ANXIOUS TO VEN TILATE THE WHOLE MATTER,

Seeeived October 8,11.20 a.m. Sydney, October 8.

The Crown authorities are busy preparing the case for tho prosecution. They have thoroughly examined all papers found in Messrs Crick and Meagher's offices, but nothing of importance has been discoyerod, While itis probable several further arrests will be made, it is certain tho proceedings will be taken against a fourth individual if ho can be found.

A warrant is issued, but so fur the police have failed to truce him, He is in no way connected with the alleged poisoning, but it is alleged that while cognisant with Dean's position, he look an active part in the agitation for tho appointment of a Commission.

Smith is being kept carefully out of the way by the prosecution, Mr Crick intends to defend his own case. Mr Barton will defend Mr Meagher. The case being siibjudice it is very doubtful whether Mr Crick will he allowed to speak in the Assembly to-day regarding his arrest as he proposes. He holds that nothing can prevent him, and declares his intontion of ventilating the whole matter, but it has been the invariable practice of the Speaker in the past not to allow matters in this position to be discussed.
