A concert and dance in aid of the funds of the Fire Brigade was held in the Olympic Theatre last evening, but owing to the unfavourable weather there was not a largo attendance,
Messrs Katon, Taifc and Eddie, representing the Ballance settlers, have gone to Wellington to interview the Manager of the Loan and Mercantile to endeavour to obtain a lease of the factory. Mr ¥. Greville, on behalf of a syndicate, has offered the Ballance suppliers twopence halfpenny per gallon to January and Uopenpe farthing after that. The offer is to be further oonsiderod, AH Oqpk's factories are now working, stive Kaitawa, which, opens on Monday.
