MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING,

The ordinary meeting of the Boaul was held on Saturday, tho 28th ult. Present, Messrs C. Forsberg (chairman), C. Tait, J. F. Heckler, P, Glceson and F, W. H. Kumnier. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and correspondence outwards. The Clerk to the County Council returned account' for engineering expenses with explanatory note. Mr Leslie Dorset waited on the Board with reference to bis bridgo.— Preliminary to considering tho matter with Mr Dorset, ho was asked to withdraw his threat of legal proceedings.—This he declined to do until lie had time to gel further advice,

Messrs Jirodoifion and Jacobsen interviewed the Board with rospect to tlioir contract on the Mangamahoe Road. The Engineer's roport was read to tliera and they agreed to complete their contract as soon as the weather permits, the Board to deal with the matter in dispute at next meeting, Messrs Hauberg and Askew also interviewed the Board, explaining tho relative positions of themselves and the sub-contractors. They also stated that they woro willing that the Board should, if necessary, retain sufficient money until the work is finished to meet tho claims of the sub-contractors.

Mv V. Toinquist informed tho Board that the Government had now laid off a load to section 1, Block IV, Miki Miki, and requested that tho bush be felled, -It was decided to accept Mr Tornquist's oiler to do the work at 32s Gd per acre. Mr Brooks was granted an extension of six months to romoTe tho stack of limestone on South Mauriceville Road.

The Clerk was instructed to enquire whether the road crossing sections 1,75,72, and 74, Block IV, Miki Miki, is legal. Instructions weie also given to notify settlers to clear gorse and broom from road reserve opposite thoir sections, otherwise it will be done at their exponso.

It was decided to inform Messrs Tate & Co. that they must proceed at oneo with bridge on Cleland's road, otherwise penalties will be enforced.

Instructions wcro trivon to advertise proposal for liowen Koad loan. Tenders will he invited for patching the metalled-portion of Mangamahoe road, and metalling a further 10 chains.

Cheques amounting, to £382 17i 3d wore passed for payment,
