WAIRARAPA CRICKET ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. Tho first annual meeting of the above Association wits hold in Mr F. H. Wood's Auction Room, Carterton, on Saturday last. Mr Welch, of Mntarawn, was voted to the Chair. Tim GfU'tovtou, Grey tow ut and ilfttarj&a Gluhs only were ropreseiitod, Irooinbers being present in all, the lieayy rain preventing an attendance from Featberston ami Mastertoh. The minutes of the meeting wbon tho Club was formed were read and confirmed. Tho Committees report showed tho past season had been a successful one in Championship Handicap Matches, Greytown proving tho victors after a close contest. Only one "rep 1 ' match was played, that against the Pnhiiitna County Club, in which tho latter proved the winners by 31 runs. The balance-sheet, which together with tho report was adopted, showed receipts from Club subscriptions six and a-lialf guineas, and donation from Mr T. Price, V.P., two guineas, total £8 18s Gd. Expenditure £8 6s, leaving cash in tho Bank, 12s (id. Votes of thanks wore accorded Jlr Price for his liberal donation, and Mr A. Tate for auditing the accounts. Tho Fouthorston Club notified tho appointment of Messrs Card and P<ajiy as delogates. » Buchanan, Mil.lt,, was reelected President, and the following Vice-Presidents were elected, viz.: Messrs A. Matthews, H. S. Izard, H. R. Bunny, D. Johnston, E. M. I). Whatman and T. Prico. Messrs Rowsonnd Knell, Hon. Sec. and Treasurer, respectively, finding it inconvonient to attend tho meetings at Carterton, declined the appointment offered thorn, and Mr W. Downard was elected secretary and Mr Baillio (8.N.Z.) treasurer; being local residents. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring officers, also to the press for tho interest thoy have shown in cricket matters. It was decidod that handicap matches be adopted this year. Tho attention of Secretaries of Clubs was called to rule IG, which states that a list of defaulters shall be sent to tho Secretary of tho Association before the soason begins. It was resolved torocommend to the delegates to provide that a newcomor to tho district shall be resident four, weeks before being allowed to plßin a match. Avoto of thanks to the chair and to Mr F, H. Wood for the use of his rooms, concluded tho business.
