From Our Own Corrtipondtnl. Monday. At a meeting of creditors in tho estate of T. Parr, of Martinborough, bold at Featherston on Thursday last, tho D.0.A,, (Mr Chennells) presiding, the bankrupt stated that ho owod his position to the fact that Dr. Bey had got judgment against him for £lll9a Bd,.which he had to pay _or go to gaol, It was unanimously resolved to giro back to debtor, his two horses, saddle and bridle, The D.O.A, pointed out tint the oroditors had given back the only real assets, but he promised to do his best with the book debts, Tho meeting adjournod tine die. The annual meeting of the Cricket Club was held a few nights since, when there were about 27 members present, The Treasurer reported a balance in hand of £8 Is 2d, The balance-sheet was read and adopted, Fourteen new members were elected. Tho following officers were elected— Patron: Mr Matthews; President: Mr A. H. Kno flies; Vice-Presidents: Messrs J. W. Card, W, Bock, Jas. Donald, H. J. Kuivin, W. 0. Williams, P. Monckton, W. Toogood, G. Fenwick, C. B. Pharazyn, W, Barton, W. E. Bidwill, J. 0. Bidwill, T. Bennett, A, McKenrio; Socrotary and Treasurer: J. E, Ponny; Management Committeo: Messrs C. Cundy, J. W. Card, W, Sussex, T. Greatbatch, S. Feast, A, J. Toogood and Gh Fonwick; Match Committee: Messrs Snssox, Greatbntch and C. Cundy. Tho subscription was fixed at 7/6, Messrs Penny and Card were appointed delegates to attend the Association. A list of rules was read and adopted, Messrs Penny and Sussex were appointed Captain and vice-Captain respectively. The colours of tho Club were fixed as red and white. , The Chairman reported that Mr S, Feast bad been the winner of tho bat presented by Mr J. McCnrty, baling anaverageof I3runs, and tbat Mr Sussex was the winner of the ball presented by Mr H. B. Tuckor, of Carterton, having had an average of 4 runs to each wicket.
Our local Band, which has been dead for the last twelve months or more, is likely to come to life again, for ft meeting is convened for Wednesday evoning next, when the subject of reorganisation will be dealt with, Apropos of music I hear that there is a likelihood of Mr J. Rearsley aettling in our midst. On Saturday last tenders were #pened at the Eoad Board office, the following being accepted Contract Lucas' cutting, E, Kelly at £2 17b 6d. Contract, drain cleaning, Phillips' Line, M. Brodorsen at Is 4d per chain, The usual monthly meeting of the Loyal Unity Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was held on Saturday night, there being a fair attendance of officers and brethren present. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £25 7s. Intimation was received from the Pro. Secretary that he and the Grand Master would yisit the lodge in November. It was resolved that a social should be held in bononr of their visit.
