SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

MR R. P. TEMPLE BADLY INJURED. | A very serious accident occurred f yesterday afternoon on the Taratabi- ' Cartorton Road, when a horso, attacked to a light trap, driven by Mr R. P. Temple, shied at some waving toi-toi, and capsieed the vehiclo over a culvert, precipitating Mr Temple I and his wife and two children (who t were also in tho trap) into a creek J by the roadside. In the fall Mr i Temple had his leg gashed and badly c broken; Mrs Temple sustained a 1 i severe opain of the hand and several f I minor injuries; the little boy re- t ceived a nasty brnise and cut under ( one eye, but the little girl fortunately t esoaped any injury, Neither Mr r Temple nor his wife could c more, and but for a party of young v ladies who were playing tennis at n Mr Wyett's residence—about three I chains from the scene of the acci- J dent -they would have been in sore t straits. As it was, the cries of the I half-drowned sufferers brought 8 assistance, and every kindness was o shown tbem by Mr Wyett's house- p hold. Mr Temple was at once g brought on to Masterton and his i injuries attended to by Drs Beard and J Butement, and we learn shjs morn- a ing that ho is nrogroßsing as well as h can he pipectea.
