[to tiie editor,] Sib.—As published by you the rosnlt of tho local Borough Election is misleading. It needs to be added that Messrs Applin, Fairbrother and Hughan had withdrawn from, and took no part in tho election, though as their notice did not ieavo two clear days' notice, tho Returning Officer had to go through the form of a poll to comply with the law.— I am, etc, Canuioatr.
