TROUT-FISHING NEAR ML LINGTON.
By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent. Wellington, Monday.
A good many sportsmen wero out at Wainui-o-mata, yostorday, for the opening of tho fishing season. The stream was in favorable order aud the fish in excellent condition, but tho north-westerly wind somewhat handicapped tho anglers, for at Wai-nui-o-mata the southorly breezo suits better.
Among tho catches which came under my notice, were Mr N. W. Werry fifteen, and Mr James Smith twenty-seven, totalling forty-two and avoraging, I should say, about one pound each. A Mr White also caught 6even. Lower down the stream were Mr Skorrotfc and party, but wo did not hear what they got. .
