The election of a Councillor for the South Ward took place yesterday and resulted as follows:—A. W. Gould 44, A, W. Sedcole 18, Very little interost was taken in tho contest.
' The Pahiatua Variety Company appear to-night at Mangatainoka, :
A concert and dance will be held at Hawera to-uight to raise funds to wipe off the dobifc balance from last year's Sports gathering. After a couple of weeks of wet and cold weather, we are now getting beautiful spring days, warm and bright. ■ '
