—• <*V MONTHLY MEETING^* Tho ordinary monthly meeting of the Trustees was held to-day. Present—Messrs R. T. Holmes (chairman), E. Feist, D, Guild, and R. D. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was received from Mrs Geo, Bontley, slating that sho could >- • not Jive on less than 15s per week, and asking if tho Trustees will bear the cost of her husband's funoral. It was not expected that ho would live many days. The Chairman stated that £3 had been forwarded, Mrs Henry Williams wrote asking that the Trustees find her a nurse in view of an expected confinement, and asking if the Trustees could give her extra assistance and medicines. < The Chairman stated that tho casual cases for the month numbered 56, and the cost was £5 10s lOd. Thoro soentod no end of these cases. So many men came through looking for work. v On the motion of Mr Feist, it As resolved that £8 per montlJßt granted to Mrs Geo. Bentley for a term of three months. The action of the Chairman and Secretary in respect of tho casual ( > cases, was confirmed. The ordinary cases wore orderod to be continued. Thomas Williams, an old man, personally applied to tho Trustees for admission to the Old Men's Home. Sergeant McArdlo stated that ho had known the applicant for a number of years; ho had been a-hard-working man till lately, whon ho appeared to kayo completely > broken down. Applicant was now B'i years of ago. Mr Guild also stated that ho had known Williams for soino years to bo a decent hard-working man. Sergeant McArdlo said that for 6ome littlo time Williams had been assisted by friends who knew hipi and in reply to the Chairman said that he would see that the man was looked after till lie could bo admitted to the Home. It was resolved to grant Williams < 7s per.week, and make applicAj for his admission lo the Home'. '^^ The Treasurer reported a credit balanco of £l9 Gs 2d. Accounts owing amounted to £62 6s sd; petty cash payments include about £lB paid for stone breaking. The accounts as presented were passed for payment and tho meeting adjourned.. •
