MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
ORDINARY MEETING. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Jlasterton Borough Council was held last evening. Present: His "Worship the Mayor, and Crs Wngg, Hornblow, Yates, Mntrie, W. Perry, Feist and Chamberlain. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. XEW COUNCILLORS. The Clerk notified the return of Messrs Hessey, Feist and Simins as members of the Borough Council. Tho Mayor welcomed Mr Simras to tbo Council, and after making the usual declaration, Cr Simms took his seat. A COMPLAINT. Mrs F. W. Parker wrote complaining of an alleged overcharge by the Poundkeoper, for feeding a- cow. «a~r)n the motion of Cr Feist it was to ask tbo Poundkeeper to T?ply to Mrs Parker's complaints. PERKY-STREET. G, W, Woodrooife wrote stating' that unless bis offer is accepted at once he will withdraw the same. Cr Feist moved that tho sum of £l6 for the land be paid to Mr Woodrooffe. It was as well to close with the offer and complete tho street. The Mayor said they still had Mrs McKenzie to deal with, and as they would probably have to take her land under the Public Works Act, it might bo as well to deal with both at once. Cr Feist said be did not think they would get the pieco fronting Mr Woodrooffe's any cheaper. Cr Hornblow seconded the motion, which was then carried, BURGESS ROLL. E. W. Btrrill and R. A. Scott made application to have their names entered on the Burgess Roll. —Granted, ** ENGINEER. A. P. Rawson wrote offering his services for any road-work, surveying, etc., which the Council may require. Resolved to inform Mr Rawson that his application will be favorably considered, ALTERATIONS. Messrs Penty & Forde applied for permission to alter the front of Messrs C. Smith & Co.'s shop, in " Queen-f^t—Granted. St. Matthew's church. Geo, K, Bond wrote enclosing plans of a proposed alteration to St. Matthew's Church, and asking for a relaxation of the Building By-laws, by permitting a small addition to the shingle roof, now existing. The Mayor said it would bo as well to point out that shingle roofs only were allowed on sulferanco in No, I ward. Tho application was granted. GAS REPORT. The Gas and Library Committee's report was read and adopted. ORDINARY fIUSISESS. Cr Hornblow said be had been . Aasked to point out that rain-water Remained in certain places in Villastreet, and required attention, Cr Simms was appointed to the Works and Finance Committee in place of ex-Cr. Cullen. On tho motion of Cr Feist, the Council then adjourned,
